Walking to Volubilis, Morocco: Amazing Ancient Roman City

In this video, we’re leaving the town of Moulay Idriss and heading to the partly-excavated Berber-Roman city of Volubilis.

Most visitors take a bus or taxi from Moulay Idriss to Volubilis, but we discovered that walking there along the upper mountain road is not only easy, but provides stunning views. The site where Volubilis was once a thriving city is huge. Entry for non-Moroccans is 70 dirham (about £5.50). The first settlement here was built in the 3rd century BC, but the city grew rapidly under Roman rule in the 1st century AD.

It will come as no surprise that Volubilis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
