A glass penthouse in Reykjavík, Iceland

Is Reykjavík the World’s Cutest Capital City?

At 64 degrees north, Iceland's largest metropolitan area Reykjavík is officially the world's northernmost capital, but is it also the world's cutest capital?

Admittedly, we’ve tinkered around with our photos in order to emphasise the cuteness, but rest assured that even if we hadn’t, Reykjavík would still look like a box-fresh toy town. While compact, Reykjavík is still a vibrant centre filled with things to see and do and a great place to start an itinerary-filled exploration of all that Iceland has to offer. From its picturesque streets, fantastic restaurants and lively night-life to its catalogue of daily activities and excursions, no one leaves Reykjavík without having had a fantastic time.

Views from Hallgrímskirkja

The photos below were all taken from the viewing deck of Hallgrímskirkja, a breathtakingly beautiful 73 metre high church on the periphery of the city centre. Entry is only 800 ISK (around 6 USD) so it’s well worth visiting, particularly if you’re new to the city and you need to get your bearings.

We think these photos make a good case for Reykjavík being the world’s cutest capital city, but what do you think?
