We at Here To Travel really love Instagram! From the simplicity of sharing our favourite travel moments, to the immediate response we get when we post something new, we simply can’t get enough of it. We try to post at least 4 times a week, which means there’s always something new to see, like and share on our feed, as well as engage with. Leave us some comments and interact with us!
We want as many people as possible to see our Instagram photos. That’s why we’ve created this list of the ten most popular photos we’ve posted so far, to encourage those who aren’t following yet to join in the fun.
10. Széchenyi Thermal Baths, Budapest
Starting the Here To Travel Instagram Top Ten is this photo of Széchenyi Thermal Baths in Budapest, Hungary. We couldn’t resist sharing this photo as it captures the place really well. The bright yellow building contrasts beautifully with the clear blue sky and the steam rising off of the surface of the water adds a mysterious quality. This is one of our must do experiences in Budapest as seen in our guide to Budapest. It’s also particularly special to visit the hot baths in winter when the air is cold and the snow is falling.
Soak at a Thermal Bath House Budapest sits on a geological fault and therefore benefits from geothermal activity. This energy is harnessed and used to warm the waters of beautiful bath houses across the city, the most famous of which is Szechenyi just to the north of the city centre. 9. Untersberg, Austria
Incredible photos are available in pretty much every single direction at Untersberg, on the outskirts of Salzburg in Austria. This mountain, as featured at the beginning and end of The Sound of Music, is really easy to get to from Salzburg and well worth spending a day exploring. It’s also incredibly fun to spin around on Untersberg pretending to be Julie Andrews as Jade did.
8. Key Gardens in Autumn, London
Key Gardens is an oasis of calm beauty in West London. Each season brings something new to see, snap and share. This photo was obviously taken in Autumn and demonstrates, rather dazzlingly, the incredible colours the resident trees can produce when they’re preparing to shut down for the Winter.
7. Formby, Merseyside
Formby, near Liverpool in Merseyside, is an area of special scientific interest managed by the National Trust. It fuses dune and woodland ecosystems in an impressive and rather magical style. Many people visit to see the native red squirrels. Numbers of these adorable little critters have fallen sharply over the years and even here, they’re very difficult to see.
As part of the National Trust's weekly challenge of look up- this is Formby beach in Liverpool. What a sky and a coast! It's maintained by the National Trust, has sand dunes, woods and red squirrels. It will definitely feature in our guide to Liverpool once we get around to writing it! #Formby #beach #liverpool #nationaltrust #ntchallenge #sky
6. Old Town Hall Clock Tower, Munich
This close up of the clock tower of the Old Town Hall in Munich was taken from the top of St Peter’s Church tower. It’s our sixth most popular photo in the Here To Travel Instagram feed. We really lovely the intricacies of the architecture and the vibrant red of the old tile rooves. Climbing the church tower is one of our recommended things to do in Munich.
5. St Albans Clock Tower, United Kingdom
St Albans is a little-known medium-sized town in Hertfordshire, just north of London. As well as having a rather pretty city centre, the town is home to the impressive Cathedral and Abbey Church of Saint Alban. This photo, taken from the top of the town’s Clock Tower, doesn’t show very much of the town. We reckon it’s popular because of the definition of the clouds in the sky more than anything else.
CLIMBING ST ALBANS CLOCK TOWER With only a mere 93 steps to the top, St Albans Clock Tower certainly isn’t the tallest tower in Britain but it gives an interesting view of the Hertfordshire based city. See our articles on St Albans (20 minute train ride away from London St Pancras)- link in our profile #StAlbans #Hertfordshire #cityview
4. Market Square, Wrocław
Known locally as the Rynek, the Market Square in Wrocław, Poland is picture perfect. Vibrantly-coloured buildings encircle the square and offer a festival of riches to photographers. Can you spot the line of barriers in the photo? Filming was taking place on our visit and a corner of the square was sealed off.
3. Hitchin Lavender, United Kingdom
We posted this photo to Instagram to promote our photo post of Hitchin Lavender. It’s just one of a series of remarkable photos from the flower fields just outside Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Go to our post to see them all.

2. Marienplatz, Munich
A second photo taken from the top of the clock tower of Munich’s Church of St Peter has made it into the Here To Travel top ten. This time, the photo shows a different angle, that of the New Town Hall on Marienplatz in the foreground and the Gothic might of Frauenkirche further back.
READ & WATCH: 24 HOURS IN MUNICH (Link in profile) Here's another view of Munich from the top of St Peter's Church (Old Pete) near the Marienplatz You can read and watch our guide to what to do, see and where to eat in Munich, Germany. We've also written a survival guide to Oktoberfest too! We'd also recommend pairing a trip to Munich with a trip to Salzburg in Austria. 1. Nyhavn, Copenhagen
Finally, we make it to number one, our most popular photo on Instagram. Unsurprisingly, it’s one of our most colourful photos. It depicts Nyhavn, a narrow harbour in Copenhagen, Denmark. What used to be a busy dock is now a popular tourist attraction lined with pricey restaurants. When your in the Danish capital, it’s something you really cannot miss.
Nyhaven (New Harbour) a 17th century waterfront in Copenhagen, Denmark. Nyhaven, the heart of city's tourism city, is colourful, cool and expensive. Best enjoyed in the Autumn when it's calmer. Photo taken in Autumn 2007. Highlights of the trip included a bike tour of the city, visiting Tivoli Gardens during Halloween and having a killer hot dog!
