Budapest to BucharestMy guide talked a lot about the medieval history in the places we visited but I would surely have liked to hear a little less of that and more about the 1900-2000 phase of history, like what life was like under communism, how things changed once communists were overthrown, what happened in the countries during WW II, etc The only guide that really delved into that was our local guide in Bucharest, who I thought was excellent. Also, for my part, and I realize you have to provide something for all tastes, but the time in the big cities was less enjoyable than the time spent out in the countryside. The city walking tours were overlong for my taste. My guide was very helpful and friendly, no problems there..

Budapest - Vienna - SalzburgWhile Sam the trip leader was excellent the tour as a whole was very badly organised, in particular the walking tour guides one of who was very late and then rushed through it managing to lose everyone in the group at various points and the other of who didn't come at all leaving Sam to try and lead the tour. Those were the worst points but all round the organisation was poor.

Prague, Vienna & BudapestTransport was on time and well organised. Tours were adequate although a bit more detail on what we would be doing and seeing would have been helpful and allowed us to be utilise our time from when we arrived the day before and the tour as some things we ended up doing twice. The only real frustration was the hotel in Vienna. The room air conditioning system could not cope with the warm weather although the public area were fine. There were no coffee or tea facilities unless you used the restaurant. The same was the case in Budapest but we were given a jug and cups when we enquirer. The accommodation in all three cities is away from the major city centres or tourist area. However, public transport was close by in all instances.

Danube Classics Vienna 2024 (8 destinations)Al-Rosa did an excellent job. Food was good and lots of it, the cabin was clean and comfortable. The staff were always friendly and helpful and Sabrina did a great job of looking after everyone and made sure that we were always at the right place at the right time. The tours were great and we enjoyed our evenings in the lounge with music and quizzes by Erich. We had a great holiday!
